Art Makers Group Program

Art Classes in Burnside for Creative Growth, Confidence and Connection.

Unlock your creative potential with our specialised art program for young artists aged 10 – 16.

Whether you’re a quiet doodler or a bold painter, these sessions provide a structured space to master traditional techniques while building social confidence.

Our classes are specifically designed as NDIS-compatible group activities. We focus on building capacity, fine motor skills, and social engagement in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

  • Funding Category: Core – Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation or Capacity Building – Increased Social and Community Participation.

  • Sessions are delivered in small groups, via a shared support ratio (supports based on 1:1 – 1:3)

  • The NDIS plan covers the support costs of the session, there is no seperate charge for art resources

  • Our instructors are experienced in supporting neurodivergent students and those with varying accessibility needs.

The cost for the art class is covered under NDIS ‘support work’ and ‘increased social and community participation’ categories, specifically for ‘accessing community or group-based activities.’

Saturday Mornings!

Our Why

Art Makers exists to give children a safe, supportive space to create, explore and be themselves.

We know that traditional art classes don’t work for every child, and they don’t have to! Our sessions are flexible and understanding of how kids really learn and express themselves. If the paint ends up off the canvas, or your child prefers to move rather than sit still, that’s okay with us!

As parents of children with disabilities, we understand how daunting it can feel to try something new in an unfamiliar environment. That’s why we’ve created a space that feels welcoming, inclusive, and pressure-free for both children and families.

We’re not just teaching art, we’re creating a place where every child is accepted exactly as they are.

Meet your teacher - Chris

Chris is an artist, teacher and parent with experience supporting neurodivergent children and adults. He brings a calm and patient approach to each class, creating a space where participants feel supported to explore and create at their own pace.

He believes art should be accessible to everyone — a safe, inclusive way to build confidence, develop resilience, and express your authentic self.

For Chris, creativity is not just about making art, but about breaking down barriers and helping people connect, grow and feel proud of what they create.
